The PSAT 8/9 is a test that eighth and ninth graders take during the regular school day. It’s the first test in the SAT suite of assessments, which also includes the PSAT 10, PSAT/NMSQT, and the SAT. All the tests in this suite measure the knowledge and skills that your child is acquiring in school—the same knowledge and skills they will need to succeed in college. The PSAT 8/9 includes a Reading Test, Writing and Language Test, and Math Test.
At Singapore International School, we conduct the PSAT 8/9 examination in March (Spring session).
The PSAT 8/9 tests your child’s reading, writing, and Mathematics skills. The questions on the PSAT 8/9 are grade-appropriate for eighth and ninth graders. PSAT 8/9 scores aren’t sent to colleges. The PSAT 8/9 gives you, your child, and their teacher's valuable information about the child’s academic strengths and weaknesses, while there is still plenty of time for them to improve their skills. Once the student takes the PSAT 8 in grade 8 and PSAT 9 in grade 9, their score report will pinpoint exactly what they need to work on to graduate from high school and be ready for college.
The PSAT 8/9 doesn’t qualify students for the National Merit® Scholarship Program.
Registration for PSAT 8 /9 examination is to be done through the school only. PSAT is conducted once a year for grade 8 and grade 9 students.
Kindly note: The student would not be able to register for the exam from your end. Once we receive your request, the school will register for the exam.
